Hey All! I was out walking through the pile of parts the other day, and came upon the realization that I have enough parts to put together a 2nd series PW! I am thinking of building a hopped up work rig as even though I love our original WDX's, lets face it, something with a little poop under the hood and the gears to go with it would be nice. This is a list of what I have:
1 good 126"WB PW frame
1 excellent cab, and front sheet metal and windshield frame.
1 set WC 3/4 ton front fenders.
1 set 2WD truck doors
1 PW front axle, and a WC 3/4 ton front axle
1 WC 3/4 ton rear axle (centered diff.)
2 stacks PW rear springs, 1 stack fronts
1 PW transfer case and a M-37 transfer case
1 set of combat rims
1 PW radiator
Drivelines and other misc small pieces hither and yon.
Thats basicly it.
I've been contemplating engine options. The local junkyard has a wrecked '71 D-100 with a 318 and a 4spd that could be had for a few hundred bones. Theres a place on the coast selling Hercules diesels for $2000-2500 each also.
Ed Tavernier cant speak well enough of his disc brakes from Ray so that will be added too. At their best, the drums are OK.
Power steering? Oh yes! Cant forget about that.
What about foresaking the old axles all together and grafting some in from a later model 3/4 or 1 ton Dodge with 4.10 gears? It looks as if Carl Buckingham has done this with his very capable rig.
I would not cut up a original rig, and this is just something I'm just tossing around in my head.

Or I could go buy a Dodge 3500 with the Cummins and be done with all this foolishness, but that would just be too easy!
What do you think?
