i thought the same thing but didnt dare mention it to avoid a well deserved scolding from the old tire man. best bet is to shop for a tire shop that sees the rims and says 'no problem'. usually the guys that work with heavy equipment are used to combat style rims, cages and chains and know all the tricks to get them done. when i did my command wheels at bob stahls place in august 1996 we quickly decided that it was worth the cash to have pro do them. especially because they had the runflats in them too.
