Hello, I'm looking for some info on a Dodge truck engine I found on my grandpa's farm.

First the engine is a Hemi or a Poly but the heads are gone. The number stamped on the block is VT548-2858. Now I have found info on the blocks with VT3XX and VT4XX and they show up as 270 (baby hemi) and 315 (poly and Hemi) but I can't find anything on VT5XX. I think these were used in the power giant trucks from 57 to 60 but can't find the info.

The story: I was up to my grandpas farm cleaning out an old hay barn that has not been used in the last 15 years since he sold all the dairy cows, he crop farms now. The Farm has been in the Family since the mid 1800's. Anyway under a bunch of old lumber I found two short blocks. One numbered VT548-2858 and one D500-8374. When I asked about the blocks my pops told me they came out of an old Dodge car and Dodge farm truck. I decoded the D500 as the 315 Hemi car engine. My grandpas said the Dodge car was the last one he bought before switching to Imperials and he thought the truck was 2 ton but he couldn't remember because they used to have like 4 trucks at any given time to run the farm. He said he though the truck had a 354. My family has been all Mopar for ever, in fact in the pole barn my grand dad has ALL the old Imperials he has ever owned a 59, 62, 65, 68 & 72. I wish the 59 would have been a 58 cuz that would have put a 392 HEMI within my grasp :-) The 72 has 280,000 miles on it and the 440 was rebuilt twice. The second time it was blueprinted to 1969 HP specs. My dad said he remembers being able to bury the 120 speedo in 2nd gear. My project rate now is a 63 Plymouth Fury 383 Golden Commando car.

Any help on the engine ID would be great. Thanks
John Darling
