The housing, and the mechanism are 1939 specific, in fact most of the parts from a 1939 speedo do not work on the later ones.
The glass is even thinner then the 46-50 PW speedo glass, so it would rattle around if you installed it in a 46-50 PW speedo.
If you want to use any part of that speedo other then the pointer, or the light bulb socket you will need to get a new cable made with the other style end. You might also be able to buy an adapter, but I am not sure.
