speedometer question

I bought a speedometer for my 48 B1, its in excellent condition. Problem is, the back connection for the cable takes a male end on the cable, not female. There are no outside threads on the post, but female threads on the inside of the post. Ever hear of this? Is there an adaptor, or a speedometer cable for the truck for this application? Thanks to all for the help with the Mirrors for the W300.
