you might find that your steering gear is not orig to your truck. the steering gear in my command car was from a larger say 1 or 1.5 ton truck. it was rebuilt in europe with this steering gear and they installed a larger rear third member as during a refurb / improve program. none of the bushings / bearings that were supposed to fit a WC 3/4, did. i had a machinist make me a new inner shaft (i converted to power steering) with seamless tubing so he cut cut threads for the wheel in the top and he machined the needed taper and keyway too. i used brass bushings, top and bottom to center the inner shaft without problem. hope that helps. mannyc
