I would suggest pulling the winch off the truck, remove the drum shaft support bracket, drum, clutch, etc., and clean the shaft and the inside of the clutch and reassemble with a little grease between the clutch and the shaft. Most winches don't get used enough to keep them operating smoothly. JH
