If you ever have the stud broken off too close to get a nut on (and weld it), you can take a 4 1/2" grinder with a thin cutting blade, cut a slot across the top of the stud, and then after heat and paraffin, tap counter clockwise with a chisel against the slot until it moves. I did this recently on my W300 axle.
