sorry for the off topic post but i know there are some wood workers out there. i'm looking into buying a wood thickness planer. i was going to buy a powermatic with the knife sharpening setup. now i'm hearing about these spiral cutter heads with the carbide inserts. are they worth all the hype? i'm looking for a glass smooth finnish in figured woods with no pickouts . i know the powermatic is capable of this. and at a cost of over 10k$ new it should perform flawlessly! anyone ever use the cabide insert heads? i'll be spending a round 5k$ for used one.i'm not worried about hitting any metal or dirt.just need perfect finnish every time or the ability to sharpen/replace cutters on the machine. any opinions? thanks, jim.
