A few fundamental problems with that scenario.

A) Spence was driving the ’49 when the bales fell off, so this whole sorted affair is his fault.

B) Mr. Smith should have willed the ’52 to Junior, 18 years ago, soon after Junior bought the ’49 from him.

C) Junior never told Todd that years earlier Mr. Smith had given him the mechanical engine governor that came with the ’52 but was never installed. He forgot to get the drive pulley from the water pump, so by rights, Todd should give this part to him.
