From what people have told me the ball off of a later Dana 44 is the same, so find a super good welder, and have him weld you on a new ball from a 60s axle. I have also heard that some Internationals use the same axle ball. The ball actually goes inside the tube, so you just cut the factory weld on both axles, insert the good ball in the axle you want to keep, and weld it back up. Keep in mind that everything has to be aligned just right, and the weld better be good, etc. It is not a job for an novice.

The correct 1958 W100-W200 axles are very hard to find in good condition, so either call Matt and offer up your 1960 W300 as trading stock, or call a real good welder. Otherwise you may end up having to buy a parts truck to get a front axle, and you better have it inspected first, as a lot of them are bad in one way or another.

Good Luck!!

Eric
