The Cummins 4BTA ( CPL 857) in my Carryall came from a Plumbers P30 Step Van that a tree fell on. The Cummins had 23K Miles on a Cummmins Recon. The engine in the Van was Married to a GM SM-465, 4 speed manual. I changed it to a Dodge Application so I could use a Dodge NV-4500

When I bought it, it was a complete engine/transmission ready to drop in, if you wanted the GM Tranny. It cost me $1875 USD.

Cummins 4B series and 6 B series require a flywheel housing adapter to Mate the engine to the proper Transmission Brand. In my case, I used a mixed bag of parts from 1994 to 1999 Dodge from a 6B series Manual install. The Flywheel housing adapter, flywheel, clutch (NEW), Bell housing are all off the Dodge CTD Pickup. They mate to the NV-4500 that I used. Dodge Pickup Diesel Parts from 1989 to 1993 are for the 5 sp4ed Getrag transmission, which has a very bad reputation for failure. However the NP-205 as used behind a Getrag will bolt right up plug and play to a 1994-2000 NV-4500HD

Confused, the plot gets thicker LOL. There are many options on how the Cummins/transmissions/T Cases can be used. If/When you get real serious on part numbers and mate up's we can do a phone call. Its way to deep to try to pound out on a keyboard.

I have all part numbers, NAPA part numbers and others to make the Cummins 4B series swap almost bump free. If you can do ALL ther fab work, a Cummins swap with power steering and helitool 4 wheel disk brakes shoudl be budgeted around $8500.00. The more you have the cheaper it gets to a point. Look at the M37 Album below. It has a lot more pictures of the Cummins install in my M37, now in build.

Your always welcome to email me direct if I can help.

Which email address are you refering to when asking if its still in use ?
