I have always found the Power-Wagon E-brake to be a very functional design. Maybe yours is not adjusted correctly, or oil soaked? It is a multi step procedure to adjust them correctly. Once adjusted by the book, you should not be able to drive your truck away from a stop with the brake engaged. The engine will die before the E-brake will fail.
