Hi Manny.
I don't know what kit or vehicle Doug is using, but the Mopar Performance Electronic Ignition Kit differers from the Pertronix kit in this respect.
The Pertronix kit is an add on to the factory distributor, The Mopar Performance kit is a new high performance electronic system, with distributor, with a high performance ECU, wiring loom and ballast resistor. It was a simple plug and play, taking less than an hour. It's engineered to work with the LA or Poly 318 motor. My 45 year old distributor was shot. Worn so bad that it wouldn't hold dwell. Replacing that with a consistent and hotter firing program was worth every penny and it's all factory. I can get replacement parts at any dealer or parts store. I've seen good results with the Pertronix unit, but it doesn't compare to the Mopar Kit.
As for cost, there are several Mopar parts dealers and Summit and Jegs who sell it for much less than your local Dodge dealer.

Now, will someone please tell me where in that text it was insinuated that anyone was cheap or that one system was prefered over the other???? Where did I get personal?
Comparing these systems is comparing apples to oranges anyway, two different animals.
