A knowledgeable paint guy told me "No one cares about it coming out as good as you do", and I have to agree. Although my first time paint job did not come out as good as I wanted, i can redo it several times for what it would have cost to have someone else do it. I enjoyed doing it so the time to redo, if I decide to, is not an issue.

For me, Dana is right, the prep work was the time consuming and difficult part to make things come out nice and smooth. The spray painting itself was easy and fast, but the prep work determines how well the paint turns out.

I did the cab on my truck first and learned from my mistakes. Should have done something smaller first, like the fenders or hood, to experiment.

Just my $0.02 from a novice, Roger in Louisiana
