Steve's in a FOB (Forward Operating Base) in Bacquba, Iraq, reaching out to the Iraqi population, part of the Civil Affairs operations. (Now I wish I wrote down all the alphabet soup abbreviations of his assignment. 3rd ID is all I know for sure).
He was active Army in the early 80's, part of Signal Battalion, then National Guard until 1997, when his company transferred him from CT to the Chicago area.
He Re-joined the Reserves when he realized he's still fit and has the skills to contribute. And he hated to see soldiers' deployments being extended, and scheduled discharges being delayed for the lack of enough troops.
Thanks, Joe, for sharing our pride that Steve chose to leave the cushy corporate world to go over and do his part in OIF.
