no no, definetely not the clutch. The transmission is not in the truck. By turned over a little, I mean that the starter was able to move the engine , then it just came to a stop. now when the starter is engaged you just hear a clunk. I wondered if the cylinders may be a bit rusted in the top and and if the rings are hung up because of it. I don't think anything is broken in the motor, but that is a guess of course. the guy had told me he never started it. all he said was that he rebuilt it. I know the guy's son is a mechanic for fed ex, and seemed to verify that the motor had been rebuilt. but, I don't know all what they did to it, all the seals look new, the cylinders look like they have been freshly honed, and all looks to be in good shape. but, I obviously couldn't take the whole motor apart, I just took out the distributor, and took off the oil pan, carb, water outlet, etc. the plugs are removed and it just wont budge. I HAVE to guess because I don't know, I didn't do the rebuild job, so, who knows, I am mainly looking for a starting place,so I defered to your obvious expertise. anyway,if I get desperateI I may put the transmission back in and try to bump it loose. i had a friend years ago who had to do that on an old farm truck, and it worked. I would prefer not to have to do that, for fear of damaging thing but.............what can you do?
BTW wasn't demaning help immediately with the exclaimation points, was just happy to talk to the forum guys again. Thanks, Jason
