I grew up in North Canton (Hilltop Path) until we moved to Canton (38th St. NW) in 1965 (I was 11 then). Moved to Oregon with my future, present and more future wife in 1974. My 4 brothers are scattered around the state now - Columbus, Cleveland, and southern OH areas, so I visit every few years or so. Canton has certainly changed alot in the last 30+ years. Buildings, demographics, climate even. My parents' old house sold for taxes last year after the people who bought it let it go and quit paying on it after their reportedly ugly divorce. The neighborhood has gone downhill in general in my opinion, but it is hard to generalize accurately with short visits over many years. I have often also said Ohio is a good place to be from!
BTW, when we moved to Oregon to go to school at OSU, we stopped in Boulder, where we had also applied, but ultimately decided why settle for mountains when you can have mountains and ocean. Never regretted moving to Oregon for one minute.
