Chris, I've heard that story too, but not sure if it's fact or fiction. Apparently when Ford started using script, Willys also placed script on their vehicles. In 1942, the government told them both to stop and after 1942 neither GPW's or MB's had script. There were however 10,000-15,000 Ford GPW's that were built on Willys MB frames, that may be why Ford started to use script?
