The guy has talked to someone who has made him think it's a one of a kind truck (it's not), and extremely rare. He seems to think it's worth that. Your not going to win a argument like that and just wind up offending him anyways.
I would rather have one with the shortbed myself. Most of the time the only thing I'm hauling around is my lunchbox.

It's really hard to argue price with someone like that. Heck, I looked at a 47 Power Wagon this weekend. It had nice front fenders, a winch, and nice doors, but the dash was swiss cheese, most of the back of the cab had been cut out for a walk through camper, the frame was chopped and extended (poorly judging by the "swayback"), the spare tire had been bolted to the roof and the roof was smashed in, the motor turned over by hand quite easily, and there were no radiator hoses hooked up, so who knows what was happening with the engine.
The whole truck was worth to me... maby $500-$700 as a parts rig really. The guy wanted $1500 for it, and was offended when I made my offer. He said that "they are worth a lot of money, you know."
Well, yes they are, but that truck is going to take about $15k to make it a $10K truck.
You know though, I can see his point as he was sitting in the middle of a junk yard, (and I mean JUNK) that truck was probably the best one he had there, so to him, it was worth $1500. Theres no arguing, just wait for the farm sale.
