In addition to the longer frame horns, the 1/2 ton winch trucks had different trannys. The stock tranny had a right side PTO access but the winch trucks had left & right side PTO access. So look for a left side PTO tranny while you think about fabricating the frame horns.
If it were not SO HOT down south a winch ambulance would be great.
