NP420 vs M37 transmission

My NP420('57 FFPW) has the oil fil plug on the passenger side.

According to the archives of this forum(7/25/2005) this was also the transmissionin a "Late" M37.

According to the "Tranny ID Pics" on the DC Truck Parts web site, it is an "early" M37.

Also, where is a good source for gears?
