Well it started over three years ago. Eric B called me up one day telling me he found me a 1958 W300, only problem was he had NO idea where it was!

This was before I was online, so I go down to the library to look at pics on his image event site, WOW its a 58 w300 all right, but where the F is it!!??

Who knows because Eric found it by some radom search online, and the guys web site it was on didn't know where the pic came from either.

So I printed off a few pics of it, and the search was ON! I had nothing to go on not even a plate, to help narrow down the search of atleast what state it was in. Only the photo you see above. I took the photo with me every where I went and looked in every junk yard, back yard, and ranchers back 40 I could find. Still no w300

A little over six months later I was on my way home from a junk yard run from Or, it was about 3 a.m. and I was very jacked up on coffee to the point where I was not tired at all. But a funny feeling came over me and I pulled over to sleep (which I didn't) but I felt like I could'nt leave the area till I looked around the local junk yards and back yards.

I went to three junk yards that morning and didn't find anything. Was about to get back on the road, when I stopped at a body shop, and the guy tells me that theres a junk yard south of town aways that has some old dodges. So I figure I better go check it out.

Go the yard, no one is around. Music is playing in the shop and everythng is open but no one is around. So I start walking thru the yard hoping someone is out there. The first truck I see is low and behold the w300 I had been looking for!! What are the chances??

So I go back to my truck, and call Eric. Tell him you will never guess what I found!! He says are you OK, cause you don't sound like your breathing well, and your voice sounds very jumpy! I tell him it is cause I found it, found what he says? The truck, what truck. I made him guess and he rattles off about three or four trucks. But still not this one. Then I tell him I found the 58 W300, the one we didn't know where it was.

Thats the good news!! Heres the bad news...

I finally found the onwer of the yard, but he tells me he can't sell the truck or any parts of it or any other cars or trucks in the yard. Because it is tyed up in the courts between him and his exwife. And the state stepped in saying that they wanted the yard Crushed. The state shut the yard down, and took photos of every thing in the yard and would not let him sell anything.

He wanted to have a auction and sell everthing, but the state wanted the stuff gone. And not scattered out in every other back yard around the area.

I have stayed in touch with him over the last few years. But not enough I guess cause the w300 got crushed three weeks ago. 1 of 194 w300's built in 1958 with a v-8 and it's now gone! He always told me that when the state handed down the order it was going to be quick.

I called him this morning cause I had not talked to him for a few months. And he tells me its all over. He said he saved a few trucks and cars out of the yard and took them to buddys house down the road, and he said he tryed to pull the w300 down there (because he knew how bad I wanted it)but the rear brakes were locked up and could'nt get it to move. He said buy the time he got back to get others the crusher had already started and it was one of the first to go,,,, very very sad.

He told me today that they are trying to charge him with competent of court right now, for not following a court order and hauling off some of the cars and trucks. What B.S.!!

There WAS quite a few nice old trucks in the yard that are now all gone. There was 4 or 5 1961-1966 Tonw wagons, a pretty nice ww2 1/2 ton closed cab pickup, and a few other power giants, and a few nice 39-47 trucks as well. There were also several nice mopar muscle cars, including a 64 Dodge Max Wedge car I ran the numbers and it was a real Max Wedge car.

Anyways it has been a very sad day here...

Someone told me once it is better to have loved and lost, then not to have loved at all. I dont under stand that right now.

I wish I would have never found the truck. Then to have found it and now know what has happended to it now! She would have been number eight in the stable of Power Giant Power Wagon W300's.

Sorry for the long post, just wanted to tell you all about my loss.

I wonder how many POS toyota's or honda's they will get out of her? Maybe four??

Later Matt
