I gotta tell you...I love these Power Wagons we own & I especially love the way they're engineered to work on but I've never ever seen a poorer design than the canister oil filter on the Poly equiped W300's. I realize you can buy the adapter from Chrysler to convert to a spin-on filter,(which I intend to order tomorrow), but I'm surprised that Dodge would pull such a dirty trick!
It's virtually impossible to get the rubber gasket in place while holding the filter & trying to tighten the bolt on the canister. I put it all together....oil pissing everywhere. I pulled the inner fender out & finaly got it fixed. I was trying to flush an engine that had been sitting for years(The Pumpkin truck) so I poured in a quart of transmission fluid to free up a stuck lifter. It worked great!
Drained the oil, pulled the inner fender again, changed the filter....oil pissing all over again!
I surrender. Obviously I'm not the first or Mopar wouldn't have designed the adaptor!
That's a piss poor design.
