MU-2, Cast Iron Construction, Controls on Drivers side, PTO input on Drivers side. Heavy Duty

LU-4 ( M37 Winch) Cast Aluminum Construction, controls on Passenger side, PTO Input on Drivers side. Built for Military/war time use.

MU-2 is much stronger and heavier. I cant lift a no cable MU-2 off the floor to the bench, I can lift a no cable LU-4 to the bench.

The mounts are an entirely different mounting scheme. However, some people have adapted the MU-2 to fit a M37 and a Lu-4 to fit a PW.

If the MU-2 is in nice condition, its worth more than a LU-4. You should be able to sell it and get a nice LU-4 or make a swap with someone.

Parts are available for both. Click on link belkow for pictures of a LU-4 Rebuild. You can see the differences quickly
