Paul: Saw your post tonite about your doggie. Let me tell you, my friend, if he's capable of enjoying life and not in pain, and you have the determination, let him live and enjoy life w/ him as long as the almightly permits. Remember, I've told you about our disabled kitty born about two years ago? Turns out he has "cerebellar hypoplasis:" (CH) which is similar to muscular dystrophy - no or limited muscle control. Still, he's so normal in all other respects and fearless - always banging, boucing around but going at life as tenancious as hell. Don't give up, my friend!

Unrelated, but yesterday we buried my dad after 6 months post diagn w/ mesothelioma (abestos-related lung cancer). Looks like he'd had it about 3 years. Was still medically viable, but made it clear from the diagnosis that he was not going to live and die as a typical cancer patient. Ex-marine and actually flying his own airplant (1942 G44 Grumman Widgeon) several weeks before diagnos. Self-made man in every respect. Kind of a John Wayne type. Anyway, with mom & most friends gone, he summarily said he was going to and pretty much did so. I am grateful to have had 6 close months by his side - gave me the chance to get to know him and come together after many years of being pretty estranged. Died like a fricking marine too - peacefully went to sleep in his own home, just feet from where mom died four years ago. Loved and missed and was anxious to get to her. I've got his 3 year old saint benard along w/ my 7 dogs and 15 cats. Great funeral we were able to plan - bag pipes, trumpeter (british taps known as "the last post"), marine color guard & flag, local legion 21 gun, and even a fly-by by his buddies at the local airport using a french 1950's vintage jet. Was one hell of a funeral for 2 year military vet (once a marine always), but one he'd have enjoyed, I think.

Haven't touched that god damn dodge w100 and the rebuild "no oil pressure" engine I fucked up on 1st,2nd, 3rd restart (remember that mess! !) since dad's diagnosis.

Sorry, babbling.

Take care of that beautiful dog -

Sincerely, Dick Rogers
