Madero has a responsible and loving ( owner, staff, pal,you name it) who will give back a part of what a good dog gives to us every day. I'm sure he knows in his way what is going on and that you are there for him.
I just adopted another Springer Spaniel; an old blind, deaf gentleman who was discarded by someone who wouldn't be there for him. Pinball ( he bounces off everything) is a joy to have around even if he can't play ball or flush a bird anymore. It's hard to lose a buddy who thinks you're great every day, even if nobody else does!
