I am in the same boat but I am 62 years old. Try to stay away from drugs and operations for as long as possiable. try taking Aleve for daytime and tylenol Arthritis. @ night. when the pain gets unbearable. use the perscriptions.. but as few as you can to help realive the pain. I have both neck and back arthritis areas that I have been dealing with for at least 30 years. Also I have work off/on for about 15 years of my life. The doctors want to put a cage in the lower back.. but if they do, it will in time misaline the good verbray above the gage. and if your disintergate disc get worse Then your only option left is to treat you with med's. for the pain. Thats why you conserve you med's at the begining because your stomach needs to be in good shape to keep down the med's . Also this is not doom day event. there are different level of back problems. We are both in for the long haul, so stay cool
