I don't know if it's applicable, depends on the location of the injury to the nerve causing the pain I think, but maybe a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) unit might help.

A very low electrical voltage is sent down the nerve and interupts the pain signal. I know of some folks with lumbar/sciatic pain who swear by theirs.

I got lucky with the nerve being pinched in my back as the surgeon was able to relieve the pressure by removing a sliver of underlying muscle. I still got the bulge in the disc and the nerve is still pushed out but theres nothing for it to push against now.
