I just got an email from the guy that really owns the account that the bogus message was sent from. He said somebody has stolen his password and he's having all kinds of trouble. Paul's right -- ebay's getting a lot more crime-riddled lately. Ebay must keep a large staff of lawyers busy fighting off all the lawsuits from people who've gotten scammed on ebay. I'm sure their argument is "we're no different from classified ads", but they are different when they link a password to your ability to buy and sell and transfer money and they put themselves in between buyers and sellers communicating with each other. Nonetheless, ebay keeps raising its fees and posting record profits.
