The "Spitfire" engine was what Chrysler called it's flat head 6 and sometimes the polyhead V-8 in some Chryslers. This was NOT the hemi but a cheaper engine used in the lower price lines. The six was the basic engine up to 1954, after that, all Chryslers were V-8 powered. Some dodges also got engines with "Spitfire" on the flat 6's also.
