TM-9-108C
Power Trains & Interchanges
Military and Civilian Trucks
1941-1971 (Dodge)

Section 6

Modified housings will have a 1/16" ring welded on the face. There will also be a tag that says use 1 Gasket.

All unmodified housings, 3 gaskets need to be used to provide proper spacing. If the truck exhibits a rear axle breaking near the outer end, the reason may be that a 9-5/8" 3rd member is mounted in a unmodified housing with only 1 gasket.

The picture shows a Modified housing that uses only one gasket. My Carryall has a unmodified housing and HAS 3 gaskets and my M37 with an unmodified housing will receive 3 gaskets.

One doing power train interchanges really needs to obtain a copy of TM-9-108C
