I agree with that, but I haven't found a substitute that cheap, most are $5-$6 per tank full. Regardless, if the motor only lasts for 50,000 miles before a re-build is needed under normal operating conditions, just wait and install the seats then, as it seems that additive is not buying you anything but peace of mind?
My main concern is with the Poly head, once it's cut it's "ruined", so I'm playing the percentages, if it draws down a valve, then it needs to be rebuilt anyway and the seats can be installed at that time. My W200 has run without seats and without lead since 1974-78 or so, the rings were shot but the valves looked good! (maybe all that extra oil saved the valves? ha!ha!)
