I UPSed a pair of M-37 fenders to Connecticut a few years ago, I nested them together, wired them tight, covered the whole mess with tight fitting cardboard, and managed to make the package smaller than the magic UPS "take it in the shorts" size. They made it there, the guy was pleased with them, so they didn't get beat up too bad.
