Basically it's a 'burned-in' finish, by over power trowling the floor until it's nearly black. It gives it a permanent polish, seals it off and prevents "dusting" from within the concrete. The floor in this picture is burnished or "hard troweled", you can see the reflection of the restrooms in the slab, but it's not slippery, easy to sweep, clean up and maintain without coating and recoating and recoating....
