I have a bed mounted winch between the cab and a flatbed. It was part of a homemade wrecker setup. I have recently cut the boom off and with a friend re-welded the boom so that the boom is removable. The cable comes out over the top of the drum and can be run over the flatbed, or through a small snatchblock that is attached to the headache rack on the flatbed and then through the top of the boom. The winch is a 20k Tulsa that is chain driven by the PTO. Since the truck is not at my place right this moment, I can't snap any pics, but I think I may have a link for you to go to so you can take a look.
