It's not from eBay if it won't have your eBay name on it.

It's not from eBay if it don't have your eBay name on it.

The PHishers even include the statement that 'eBay is including your eBay name to show you it is from ebay". And then don't show your name. Once you have fallen for one phisher, they have enough info to start a scam.

But on one auction lately, someone sent me a ebay message about one of my items being sold elsewhere. I looked up the auction number on the actual ebay site, it was not my item. So I looked up the seller who had notified me. He had 200 auctions, all positive. And each was for a 99 cent item. Who is going to try to make a profit from 200 $1 sales? So I told ebay, and in 2 hours he had all of his auctions canceled. I suspect 200 dummy auctions won by confederates, just to build positive feedback, then start the scams.

I recently sold a dozen pieces of equipment through eBay. I got 30 eBay messages. Most from folks who didn't bid. I figure they are just trying to link email addresses to eBay names, to send scams later. So I don't answer the stupid questions anymore. If it is a valid query, I will do an edit and put the answer in the ad.

NEVER CLICK ON ANYTHING IN AN EMAIL. Be skeptical enough to close the email, go to your bookmarked eBay address, and verify what's there.

I'm at 166 feedbacks, 100% positive, and the only headaches were from selling for friends and them overselling- posting NEW, when it was used. Otherwise, I've only run into 3 dorks that I had to cancel auctions on. One may have been the Bee'ville Butt head.

I guess I wouldn't buy something as expensive as a truck that I couldn't go to pick up, inspect, and pay for. If it won't go UPS, SORRY, I DON'T FREIGHT. I've sure sold lots of equipment that was 'come and get it' to avoid disappointments. That covers my butt from scamming bidders, and covers bidders from disappointments.
