The Kirby of 30 years ago is the worst machine for a housewife ever built. Way too expensive to begin with. Far too heavy to carry up and down stairs. The dome on the top of the body is so high you can't get under any furniture. The bag affair, with the little zipper pocket on the side so you could reach in, find the little plastic scraper inside to scrape the dirt off the inside of the bag was insidious. Not only that, but you had to take the machine outside to clean it. All the dirt came out of a hatch at the bottom and went flying all over the place. And then you had to clean off the hatch cover before you could get it back in place. The guys that designed this abortion obviously never followed a housewife around while she did her cleaning chores. That attachment they called a carpet shampooer was another wonderful piece of work.
