if you do a natural gas one set it in a place you will not hear it and it can vent. We had one and they are pretty noisy when once a week the turn on to exercise themselves. We had ours in the garage mounted to the slab and exhausted outdoors but was really noisy like I said.
Noise was not a problem when everyone else had no power and we had 1/4 of the house with lights etc. Had the house wired from the generator for TV, computer, stove, and refrigerator and a few lights. Pretty spendy at the time it was $6500 for everything installed and wired.
