Mike,
The information I passed on was passed to me by those who have forgotten more about these trucks than I will ever know. I had been beating those screws out and getting replacement ones myself... I once didn't get the screws on one drum quite tight enough and it caused the rim to tighten against the heads of the screws instead of the drum/hub... which obviously wasn't a good thing. I had asked about it on the m37 forum... and found out that a number of M37 owners took them out and threw them away and have never had any negative occurances that would make putting them on necessary. Makes taking the drums off much easier as there is no need to drill or beat out those scews. As for the engineers... I work in aviation in the military and have seen some glaring examples of what engineering can come up with from time to time so I am not all that impressed by the fact that an engineer felt they were necessary.... bottom line to me was that it worked fine without those three little screws and I was only relating that to him... if he chooses to give it a try... he may just see the common sense in leaving them out... or he can ignore my comment and put three new screws right back in... simply up to him. "Some folks" know more than they are given credit for....
