I didn't pick up on the club cab part, only on the "short bed". If it is indeed a club cab, then per my post below, the wheelbase is OK for towing.
As far as towing goes I like the 26,400 lbs that I have with my cab/chassis, but set-up right with proper brakes and equalizer, the 3/4 ton will do the job for occasional towing.
