Have you considered using the composite man made decking material. Comes in standard board widths, color is all the way through. It can be screwed, bolted, drilled, milled, from what I hear form a contractor friend, its tough as nails. He plans to use it in the bed of his ford pickup. I your not going for original, this might be an option.
