Well... the Rubicon grade 8 bolts are only for the Super Flex long arm mounts. The Spring shackle bolts are grade 5, hollow, with zirt fittings. I’ve installed more than a few of these kits in the last several months. Only some of the bolts are grade 8, because, as stated by several other folks here, there are different bolts for different applications.
Fastenal says exactly the opposite of what you posted, the data is there at their site to read and interpret.
The amount of information at the Fastenal Technical Manual is too vast (62+ pages)to copy here, so here is the link: http://www.fastenal.com/content/documents/FastenalTechnicalReferenceGuide.pdf
At work are forces more than shear and tensile, you also have bending in conjunction with certain of these connections, such as suspension parts and steering box mountings, tow bars, etc. Frame connections are also subject to flex, which is why Chrysler used rivets in conjunction with bolts, in lieu of all bolts and/or all welded connections. Bigger and stronger is not always better, but it's your right to use what ever you want...just attach a large flashing light to your roof as a warning to others and provide an address to which the Darwin award can be sent.
