No pitting on the back half - nada. Ditto with what I found inside when I did my first check . The gears seem to be covered with oily stuff that protected everything . I got the trans for less than what I would be billed for a core if I bought a rebuild . The metal cleans up and looks like fresh gears should . I have yet to get inside the thing . I need a manual before I consider blowing it apart. Perhaps the disc with "old truck pics " will help me . <ggg>
Yes , I have taken on a degree of risk here , but I have more parts now than yesterday and i think I may get away with using the trans .
I can allways sell it and buy a better one if one comes along and keep the extra stuff .
