By all means, disconnect the drag link and the tie rod, one ata time. Vaughn is right about isolating the problem. Could be a frozen joint too- tie rod end, or water settled into the bottom pivot bearing rusting it in place,,,,

Also, is the pinion adjuster too tight? That is the long screw sticking inwards towards the engine. It should be adjusted with the wheel centered, since that is the tightest spot. Adjusting it off center, and at the center tight spot it can lock up. Too tight by 1/2 turn and even the Governator would have troubles. Way tight and it can lock up on you. Many old trucks need it tightened, by maybe 5-6 turns, too loose and you've got shimmies and wandering.
