Can you temporarily ground the sensor ( while still installed in truck?) to check that is the problem.
Is it a one wire sending unit or 2.
I had the polarity reversed on mine ( 2 wire) and so it would read full on empty.
When I get stumped like that, I always go back to the basics. Is the grounding wire really grounded, sometimes the frame and or parts are not a good of a ground as you would expect.
