Steering questions

Now that I have the 49 home, it steers 10 times easier then my 1967. I am wondering why. My 67 has a rebuilkt box from vintage and all new seals etc. I am wondering if I have a bad box, or if I set up shims wrong etc. Any Ideas? the 67 is so bad my son can hardly steer it, my 49 he can drive easily
