Norm, you silly kid, when cosmoline was the standard product for protecting metal, the most commonly available solvents were gasoline and kerosene. So that's what we used way back then. Both worked about the same except gasoline was a little faster.

Even though there were several old home remedies that had kerosene as an ingredient, we never kept it in a kitchen cabinet. We did keep a small can out in the mud room for filling our lamps and getting the old wood burning cooking and heating stoves started.

I want to extend best wishes to you, Mike, Cabell, Axe-Killer, and those several others that the Nation will honor when we celebrate "TURKEY DAY" next week.
