I have been using a Monarch Hy-Lo Jack pump with self contained reservior to power the Monroe lift. It provides for only three functions of the valve: neutral, full pressure raise, and full pressure lower, both with a spring return to neutral. No down pressure regulation and no float position. It has not been very good for powering a 3-point lift, other than when using stationary attached equipment.

I have never found an original Monroe crankshaft driven pump. The Jeep/Monroe version is not even close to what Dodge used. So about 3 years ago I started designing my own self contained pump/valve/reservior combination to mount along side the winch like the original Monroe unit. It has the adjustable down pressure feature and is also driven from the crankshaft. The valve, operating in the raise position, returns with spring pressure to neutral when the control handle is released. Neutral and lower position hold in place with a detent. Lower will act as a pressurized float when the down pressure is backed off from full (just like the Monroe original). I also added a true float on a forth position of the valve to keep from having to continually adjust the down pressure screw.

I should be able to test the unit by Thanksgiving.
