Something else to realise is any trailer over 10k GVW (licensed) you need a cdl. you can have one that restricts the towing vehicles weight (IE) under 18k, but in almost all states even a pinto towing a trailer registered at 10,100 pound would require a class a license. In NYS they are enforcing pick ups towing heavy trailers.
